Chocolate Cream Cheese Brownies

(from “101 Things to do with a Cake Mix” by Stephanie Ashcraft)

After Ben passed his first test and another feller had passed his tests, a lady at work made these brownies for them. Ben wanted me to put the recipe on the blogspot. He said they are heaven.

1 (18 ounce) package chocolate cake mix (chocolate fudge, Devil’s Food, German chocolate or milk chocolate)
1/2 cup margarine
3 eggs
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
16 ounces powdered sugar, plus extra (to garnish)
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Directions
In a large bowl, combine dry cake mix, melted margarine and one of the eggs; stir together and mix well. Stir in chopped nuts (if desired). Press mixture into a greased 9x13 inch pan.
In a separate bowl, beat together the cream cheese, remaining two eggs, vanilla and powdered sugar. Pour over the chocolate mixture.
Bake in a 350-degree oven for 40-50 minutes (until top is set and golden brown).
Allow to cool before cutting into bars. May sprinkle with extra powdered sugar and pecans before serving, if desired.

(Ben) The ones I had did not have nuts (thankfully), and they were AWESOME!

These sound divine! I'm with you on making sure the nuts are omitted. Ick.
I'll be trying them soon!
